Jacob Forstater

Jacob earned his Ph.D. in Physics from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he investigated protein self-assembly and protein-surface interactions. Before joining Merck in 2016, Jacob was a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, where he developed key nucleotide modifications and algorithms for nanopore-based next-generation sequencing by synthesis. Jacob is currently an Associate Principal Scientist in the Enabling Technologies department in  Merck Process Research & Development organization, based in Rahway, NJ, where he leads the development of new enzyme immobilization technologies and has spearheaded the implementation of immobilization biocatalysis across scales.
