Jane Cutler has overseen significant changes to Australia’s national regulatory regime following her appointment as CEO of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority in September 2009.
Since January 2012, Ms Cutler has applied her expertise in safety and environmental management as Chief Executive Officer of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), Australia’s independent regulator for OHS, well integrity and environmental management of the offshore petroleum industry.
Her tenure as head of the Authority has included leading the regulatory response to offshore incidents, including the 2009 Montara well blowout in the Timor Sea.
Ms Cutler’s responsibilities include dedicated stakeholder engagement with industry, federal and state ministers, government departments, NGOs, community groups and international regulatory counterparts as part of managing the transition to regulatory arrangements under NOPSEMA.
Ms Cutler has extensive experience in business leadership roles in both the oil and gas and financial services industries, with organisations including Woodside Energy, BHP Petroleum and Esso Australia. In previous senior executive roles, Ms Cutler has led the development of a range of oil and gas projects both in Australia and overseas.
Ms Cutler holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and Master of Environmental Studies and Master of Business Administration qualifications. Jane is also an independent non-executive director of Westcycle, the peak body for cycling in Western Australia.
