Dr. John Carson is president of Jenike & Johanson, Inc., a world-renowned engineering consulting firm specializing in the storage and flow of bulk solids.
He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1970 he joined J&J where he has been active in research, consulting, and management.
An author of more than 100 articles on various topics dealing with solids flow, including bin and feeder design, flow of fine powders, and structural failures of silos, he also lectures extensively on similar topics.
Besides being a founding member of AIChE's Powder Technology Forum, Dr. Carson belongs to ASME, ASCE, and ASTM International, where he is chair of committee D18.24, “Characterization and Handling of Powders and Bulk Solids.”
He received the ‘Solids Handling Award’ from the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers in recognition of his “Outstanding professional excellence in the technology”.
