Dr. Jong Beom Na has substantial expertise in the design, synthesis, and characterisation of functional nanomaterials including organics and inorganics for diverse applications. He has extensive experience in polymeric materials design, synthesis, functional polymers, chemical and physical analysis, and materials applications. He has developed several conductive polymers with energy harvesting and storage applications through the molecular design and development of various processes and polymerisation methods. Recently, he is focusing on the development of nanoarchitectured polymeric/inorganic materials for electrochemical energy storage, electrocatalysts, and environmental applications.
Dr. Jong Beom Na received Ph.D. degree (2017) from Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Yonsei University (Republic of Korea). Until 2018, he worked as a senior research engineer at Chemical Laboratory of SK Chemicals Co., Ltd. for the development of eco-friendly adhesives by polymer nanoparticle dispersion at a large scale. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and as a visiting academic at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), the University of Queensland. His major research interest is in the design and synthesis of functional nanomaterials, organic-inorganic hybrid materials, and energy conversion-storage applications.
Dr. Jong Beom Na has continued his research into polymeric materials while working in the industry. His team at SK Chemicals Co., Ltd. developed an eco-friendly water-based polymeric adhesive through the dispersion of polymer nanoparticles. A large-scale synthesis process also developed through polymer emulsification by the high-level technique of polymer synthesis.
Dr. Jong Beom Na has established scientific collaboration with world-leading researchers at National Taiwan University (Taiwan), Chinese Academy of Science (China), Fudan University (China), Yonsei University (Korea), Kyung Hee University (Korea), Qingdao University of Science and Technology (China), Waseda University (Japan), Korea Institute of Materials Science (Korea), Dongguk University (Korea), etc.
