Fryrear Chair and Teaching Professor

Professor Shaffer is the Fryrear Chair and Teaching Professor in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines. He is currently working to promote discipline-based education research (DBER) to improve teaching and student outcomes. Justin received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington, and received the SPIRE Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
