Kiana Amini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where she began in August 2023. She earned her MASc and PhD from the University of Waterloo, where her doctoral research centered on the development of zinc-based flow cells for clean energy storage applications. Following her PhD, she served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, where she focused on the design and development of multiple organic and organometallic-based redox flow batteries for energy storage, as well as aqueous organic-based flow cells for carbon capture applications.
At UBC, Dr. Amini leads a research group dedicated to advancing the performance of electrochemical flow systems, with applications including energy storage, carbon capture, and lithium extraction, contributing to the transition toward clean energy technologies.
