Ms. Laihmen Quan is an international graduate student pursuing her Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University. At the age of sixteen, she moved from Honduras and started her educational journey in Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. After graduating with honors, she transferred to Mississippi State University (MSU) and completed her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Ms. Quan is currently a graduate research assistant at MSU under the supervision of Dr. Maryam Mirabolghasemi. Her research focuses on a preventive approach for in-situ permeability remediation for sealing CO2 leakage pathways in geological storage sites. While at MSU, she served as the AICHE Honduran Sister Chapter Liaison and was actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers, the Society of Hispanics Professional Engineers and is currently the Vice-President of the Graduate Student Association. She has also worked as a graduate teaching assistant and instructed the senior-level course, Process Design Laboratory.
