Laura Hammett

Laura is an urban resilience specialist with the United Nations Development Programme’s Climate Change Adaptation team with over a decade of experience working in international development. Her technical expertise spans the intersection of the urban planning, management strategy, climate policy and finance, and disaster risk management fields. Ms. Hammett has led project development and research initiatives with clients and partners including UNDP, the World Food Programme, the US Air Force, Lutheran World Relief, the World Resources Institute, and the Yale Center for Business and Environment to develop risk-informed policies and plans, advance blended financing for climate action, innovate applications of satellite-based risk information, and apply ecosystem-based adaptation solutions. Ms. Hammett holds degrees in Environmental Management from Yale University and Urban Planning from the University of Virginia and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Her work has taken her to over 25 countries, but she currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand.
