Independent Consultant
A. M. (Tony) Downes is an independent consultant specializing in process safety. He recently (semi) retired after 34 years in the process safety field in the petrochemicals and related industries. As Global Process Safety Advisor for Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies, Downes led the recent Digital Process Safety and Operations Management (DPSOM) project for Saudi Aramco. He has worked at both the site and corporate levels in six different companies. He has conducted over a hundred process hazard analyses (PHAs) and investigated over a hundred incidents. Downes is a Fellow with the Center for Chemical Process Safety and a TUV-certified Functional Safety Engineer.
