Before working at AIChE, Mahir worked in the fragrance industry, experimenting on the compatibility between different bases and oils for personal care products and determining the viability of the final product in market. After this, he pursued his Masters and interned at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers with the programming team, supporting them with conferences. After graduating, Mahir transitioned into a full-time role working in the sustainability, energy, and entrepreneurship sector within AIChE. He supports AIChE Technical Communities such as the Institute for Sustainability (IfS), Center for Energy Initiatives (CEI), International Society for Water Solutions (ISWS), The Climate Solutions Community (TCSC) and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Excellence (CIEE). He also works closely with the RAPID Manufacturing Institute, developing, organizing, supporting student competition and events such as Chem-E Cube and the NumberUp Program, a middle school summer camp focused on engineering entrepreneurship.
Mahir received his Bachelors and Masters in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union and has written and published a thesis on the prevention of spreading COVID-19 within operating rooms.
