Mario R. Eden, PhD, is the Joe T. & Billie Carole McMillan Professor and Chair of Chemical Engineering at Auburn Univ. (Email: edenmar@auburn.edu). His research interests include chemical process design, integration, and optimization, as well as molecular synthesis and product design. His group focuses on the development of systematic methodologies for process and product synthesis, design, integration, and optimization. He has published over 150 papers and book chapters and delivered over 400 presentations at national and international conferences, including more than 70 invited lectures and seminars. He received several research and teaching awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the AIChE Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Outstanding Young Researcher award. Eden is serving as second vice chair of the CAST Div. and is a trustee of Computer Aids for Chemical Engineering (CACHE). He is on the editorial board of several journals, including Computers & Chemical Engineering. He is a co-founder of PSE for SPEED (Sustainable Product Process Engineering, Evaluation and Design) Co.
