Mark Johnson, Ph.D., is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Clemson University. his research focuses on the investigation of clean-energy technologies and innovation in advanced manufacturing, new materials, and semiconductor technologies.
In his career, Mark has been an entrepreneur, an academic, and a government official. Prior to joining Clemson, Mark was the Director of the Advanced Manufacturing Office for the U.S. Department of Energy and was one of the earliest Program Directors in establishing ARPA-E.
Mark earned his PhD from NC State and his BS from MIT, both in Materials Science and Engineering.
