Research Biologist
US Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center.
Dr. Matthew Lux is a research biologist at the US Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center. His research focuses on synthetic biology, with an emphasis on cell-free systems for defense-relevant applications. The first line of efforts has been to develop technologies for point-of-need detection of pathogens and water contaminants in low-resource environments. More recent efforts have explored scaling of cell-free systems for biomanufacturing of products that are difficult to make in cells. He also has an interest in highlighting and addressing reproducibility challenges in synthetic biology.
