Dr. Mike McFarlane is the North American Director for Smart Manufacturing in BASF, leading a regional team in the deployment of digital solutions across the operations network.
Prior to taking this role in July, Mike was responsible for strategic planning, continuous improvement, knowledge management and culture development at BASF’s Freeport, Texas site.
Mike is a US Citizen born in Scotland where he obtained a PhD in Chemistry from St. Andrews University.
After an initial spell in pigment research, the majority of Mike’s career has been in operations, with twelve years as a Site Leader across a variety of businesses, locations and technologies.
