Morten Bache has experience in both the academic and the private sector, and working on the intersection between them in defining research and development opportunities. He is a physicist, with Ph.D. (2002) and Dr.Techn. (2018) degrees from the Technical University of Denmark. With a track record as a prolific and renowned scientist in physics, photonics, nonlinear systems, quantum optics, and applied mathematics, his research expertise lies in developing mathematical physical models and providing accurate numerical simulations of dynamical systems. In his research career at the Technical University of Denmark, he led a team focusing on ultrafast nonlinear optics using theory, numerical simulations, and experiments.
Since 2018 he has been working at the Novo Nordisk Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the world. The Foundation’s main scope is to award grants to education, research, and innovation in the public domain. There, he works with stakeholders across the public and private domains, discovering new trends, providing solutions, and creating partnerships that define tomorrow’s opportunities. His core expert areas are quantum technologies, AI and data science, physics, applied mathematics, technical sciences, health tech, energy, climate, carbon capture storage and utilisation.
