Dr. Mykel Green is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University, where he leads the Regenerative Engineering and Equity Lab (REEL), designing biomaterial technologies to address health disparities, with a focus on sickle cell disease. An alumnus of Morehouse College with a degree in Biology, he earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The City College of New York under Dr. Gilda Barabino. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin under Dr. Elizabeth Cosgriff-Hernandez as a Provost Early Fellow in Healthcare Disparities, where he co-designed a curriculum on equitable healthcare technologies. Dr. Green has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Rising Stars in Engineering in Health Fellowship, University of Virginia BME Emerging Leader Scholar, George Mason University InSPIRE Award, MIT Impact Fellowship, and NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. He is also active in BlackInBME and the Society for Biomaterials Young Scientist Group. Outside of work, he enjoys family time, binge-watching shows, and exploring new restaurants.
