Nick Hardman-Mountford is Principle Scientist in CSIRO’s Oceans and Atmosphere Flagship and leads the Perth-based Marine Biophysics Team. His research on ocean observations and monitoring uses techniques from satellite data to autonomous ocean instruments and computer models. Nick has experience in developing and leading multi-agency research programmes and Centres of Excellence, was Director of the UK Centre for Observations of Air-sea Interactions and Fluxes (CASIX) and was a board member of the UK National Centre for Earth Observation. He has worked on projects in Europe, Africa and Australia. He gained his PhD from Warwick University UK (2000) and worked as Senior Scientist at Plymouth Marine Laboratory UK before joining CSIRO (2012). He also holds an adjunct honorary research fellowship at the University of Western Australia. Nick has published over 100 research papers, book chapters, articles, industry and government reports, represents Australian research on various international panels and currently leads CSIRO’s marine incident response team for Browse basin.
