Dr Ozgur Akgun is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, UK. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Constraint Programming, and specifically high-level modelling and model reformulation. Beyond his foundational contributions to AI systems, he has applied advanced methods to a wide range of practical challenges, including the electrification of public transport, historical genealogy, optimising computational workflows in cloud environments, and scheduling astronomical observations for exoplanet discovery.
He regularly publishes in leading AI conferences and journals and routinely serves as a reviewer for these venues. In addition to his academic work, Dr Akgun contributes to open-source software projects, most notably the automated modelling tool Conjure.
