Pieter Schmal

Pieter Schmal is a Research Associate at ExxonMobil Research & Engineering since May 2019. He has a M.Sc. & Ph.D. from TU Delft in The Netherlands on large-scale dynamic modeling for online applications. Pieter did a post-doc on irreversible thermodynamics, design and control of the heat-integrated distillation column. He had his own company to commercialize a patent on a new separation method. In 2008 Pieter joined Process Systems Enterprise and was responsible for the technical sales team in the Americas, head of PSE Academic and director of the Process systems engineering Academic Highway, PATH, initiative. Pieter has worked or advised on model-based online applications and phenomenological modeling throughout his career.
