R. Bertrum Diemer

Bert retired in 2014 after a 40+ year career as a DuPont Engineering Fellow with expertise in reaction engineering, thermochemistry and population balance modeling.  Prior to his retirement, he also held an appointment as Adjunct Professor in the University of Delaware’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and now has been appointed Professor of Practice there where he co-directs the new professional Master of Engineering in Particle Technology (MEPT) program.  He received chemical engineering degrees from Lehigh (BS’73) and Delaware (M’80, PhD’99) and is a Delaware-licensed P.E.  His industrial career comprised assignments in manufacturing, process development, technical supervision and consulting.  He is the author of 25 refereed publications and book chapters (including 13 refereed journal articles), holds 13 U.S. Patents and has received 5 DuPont Corporate Awards for advances in titania, phosgene, and insecticide manufacture, and for development of thermochemistry tools.  Bert was a 1997 ACS Hero of Chemistry.
