Ramesh Rameswaran received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1986 from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, with a specialization in Fischer-Tropsch Catalysis. He completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Chemistry Department of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan in 1988. 

Ramesh began his industrial career developing a heterogeneous epoxidation catalysts at ARCO Chemical Company, Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, in 1989, in the Process Development Department.  Soon thereafter, he joined ARCO’s Bayport, Texas manufacturing facility as a Process Engineer.  While there, he received ARCO’s Manufacturing Excellence and Technical Achievement awards for solving long term plant issues and improving process reliability.  Upon returning to R&D, he was active in multiple projects involving manufacturing support, new process development, process improvement, and new product development.

Ramesh joined SABIC in 2006 as the Process Development Manager for the Technical Center in Houston.  Later, he led the Corporate R&D strategic planning activities for Non-Conventional Feedstock Programs. Currently, he is leading a project involving specialty product development in support of the Agri-Nutrient Business Unit of SABIC and contributing to multiple new process development programs as a Chief Scientist.

Within AIChE, Ramesh has held several positions,  including having been one of the first committee members of the Process Development Division and  the very first  Process Development Symposium. He was also a Chair of the Chemical Technology Operation Council.  In 2012, Ramesh was elected to be a Fellow of the AIChE.
