Dr. Ray Collins serves as an expert for solid-liquid separations at The Dow Chemical Co., leading applied engineering research that supports diverse Dow operations worldwide. In this role, he develops solutions for new processes, troubleshoots existing operations, guides technology selection and best practices, investigates new technology, and conducts technical training.
Ray holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Akron, Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and patents for filtrations used in producing catalysts and seed oils. His industrial experience spans valuable specialty chemicals to wastewater treatment and encompasses more than 250 different processes involving all forms of filtration and sedimentation, size classification, membrane separations, diaphragm pressing, solids washing, filter media testing and crystallization.
Ray is past chair of the American Filtration and Separations Society, its current chair of Publications and a recipient of its Frank Tiller Award. He teaches a one-day short course in solid-liquid separations at AIChE events.
