Richard May is co-founder and CTO of Standard Potential Co., where he leads product R&D for their sodium-ion battery platform. Richard received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Caltech and a Ph.D. and postdoctoral appointment at Columbia University. He led a wide range of projects there, spanning battery chemistry development and characterization, hydrometallurgical battery recycling, and supply chain analysis for energy storage and solar photovoltaic generation. Prior, Richard worked at Tesla developing the Model 3 cell chemistry.
Standard Potential is transforming the way batteries are manufactured and deployed. Sodium-ion cells produced using Standard Potential’s FreeForm process exhibit a step change improvement in safety and performance compared to standard manufacturing.
