Robert Eden, PhD, CEng, is the Managing Director of Organics Group. He received a BSc in civil engineering from Aberdeen Univ. and a BSc in mechanical engineering from Warwick Univ. He has published papers in the fields of combustion engineering, pyrolysis, wastewater treatment, and thermal ammonia removal and recovery. He holds patents (awarded and pending) on technologies related to thermal ammonia removal and recovery, as well as pyrolysis. After graduating with a PhD in the mid-1980s, Eden initially worked as a research associate at Warwick Univ. and was later recruited to build one of the U.K.’s first landfill gas electricity generation projects. He started Organics Group in 1988, and over the past 30 years has taken it from an operator in the landfill gas sector in the U.K. to an international company delivering projects globally. His company is now active in the U.S., Oceania, Asia, Europe, and the U.K., with a primary focus on ammonia recovery from wastewater and the production of green ammonia. He is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institute of Energy, and the Society of Operational Engineers.
