Robert J. Bellair, PhD, is a technical leader in the Reaction Chemicals Group at The Dow Chemical Co. (Lake Jackson, TX; Phone: 979-238-7202; Email: rjbellair@dow.com). He has 12 years of experience assessing reactive chemical hazards in chemical processes by applying his expertise in calorimetry, thermokinetic modeling, and heat transfer simulation. He is the Secretary of the ASTM E27 Technical Committee on “Hazard Potential of Chemicals” and a member of the Technical Advisory Board for Texas A&M Univ.’s Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center. In 2015, he was identified as a “Rising Star of Safety” by the National Safety Council. He received a BS and a PhD in chemical engineering from Wayne State Univ.
