Robert (Bob) Johnston is senior vice president, global operations of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, located in Houston, Texas. He is responsible for its global, integrated manufacturing operations as well as the Manufacturing Support and Safety & Security/Health/Environmental organizations.
Bob completed a Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Illinois. He joined Exxon Chemical in Linden, New Jersey where he worked in chemical process technology development. In his next assignments, he held several supervisory positions in polymers manufacturing in Baytown, Texas.
From 2001 through 2005, Bob held global managerial positions in planning, sales, and marketing at Chemical Headquarters in Houston, Texas. In 2005, Bob moved to the Fuels Marketing business in Leatherhead, UK to become Global Commercial Aviation Sales Manager. He transferred to the corporate office in Irving, Texas in 2007 as the Chemical Senior Advisor for Exxon Mobil Corporation, supporting the Corporation’s Senior Vice Presidents. In May 2009 Bob was assigned to Singapore as Asia Pacific Regional Manufacturing Manager to oversee the manufacturing activities for single business unit sites and to provide an interface with integrated chemical & refining sites. In March 2012, Bob returned to the United States as plant manager for the Beaumont Chemical Plant; and in October 2014, transferred to Baton Rouge to serve as the Chemical Plant Site Manager. In August 2017, Bob was reassigned to Singapore as Manufacturing Director of Singapore Chemical Plant. Following that assignment and remaining in Singapore, he was named Chemical Manufacturing Regional Director for the Asia Pacific. In February 2019. Bob returned to Houston in March 2021 to assume his current responsibilities. Bob has been married for 28 years to his wife Sheila and has two boys that have graduated college. He enjoys traveling with his family (in normal times) and is an avid sports fan, and especially enjoys playing golf.
