Sergey, a research fellow in Eugene Koonin's Evolutionary Genomics Research Group at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), is using computational methods to analyze genomic data. He has discovered multiple novel CRISPR-Cas systems using these methods, including Type VI (cas13) and numerous Type V (cas12).
