Siddharth Talapatra, P.E., PhD, is the Group Lead (Research) at Heat Transfer Research, Inc. (HTRI). He leads the heat transfer research group and is responsible for helping to develop and manage HTRI’s technical operating plan, focusing on long-standing technical obstacles as well as new growth areas in the field of energy efficiency. He is also responsible for maintaining HTRI’s research-to-software pipeline to ensure timely implementation of new research findings that can benefit the process industry. Talapatra has conducted research and helped develop methods for multiphase flows, condensation, thermosiphon operation, non-Newtonian fluids, coatings, tube enhancements, and phase-change materials. He has experience working on proprietary contracts on validation and scale-up of various energy efficiency technologies for clients across multiple verticals. He is actively involved with HTRI’s training efforts, including the development of new courses. Talapatra has an MS and a PhD in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins Univ. and a BS in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute for Technology, Kharagpur.
