Sweta Modak is a distinguished third-year Ph.D. candidate in the Chemical Engineering Department at The University of Alabama. With over five years of expertise in water treatment research, Sweta has significantly contributed to the field of sustainable water treatment. Her Ph.D. thesis focuses on the treatment of fracking wastewater using adsorptive membranes. Sweta also holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from ICT, Mumbai, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from VNIT, Nagpur. Throughout her career, Sweta has been dedicated to advancing knowledge and developing innovative methods for water purification. She has authored or co-authored two peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter in water treatment. Her groundbreaking research on metal-organic frameworks for nanoplastics elimination has been featured in the prestigious journal ACS Applied Engineering Materials. In addition to her research, Sweta actively participates in the academic community. She is a frequent speaker at conferences, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the North American Membrane Society, where she showcases her expertise in membrane-based separation processes. Sweta's current research focuses on fracking wastewater remediation and the removal of heavy metals, addressing critical environmental challenges and aiming to protect global water resources. Sweta Modak is poised to make further significant contributions to the field of water treatment with her dedication and expertise.
