Syam P. Nukavarapu, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He leads the Tissue Engineering Science and Technology Laboratory (TEST Lab) and his research interests include biomaterials and bio-inks, bio-fabrication, and tissue engineering. He has made major contributions in the design and development of biodegradable biomaterials/ composites and scaffold systems to study and understand biomaterial-cell interactions. His lab is currently developing bioprinted structures with precise local control over stem cell fate and function for bone, cartilage, and bone-cartilage interface engineering. Dr. Nukavarapu edited two books and serves on the editorial boards of major journals in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering.
