Dr. Tony Cai is the Chief Scientist for Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI). He received BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University (OSU). He has over 35 years of experience in the areas of mass transfer and separations. Tony is the author of over 85 technical papers and 2 book chapters on distillation and absorption.
Tony joined FRI in 1996 and is a member of the leadership team. He is responsible for research program planning and execution, model & software development, membership development and support, and joint research with FRI collaborators.
Tony serves as a guest member of European Federation of Chemical Engineering Working Party on Fluid Separations and served on the Scientific Committee of Distillation and Absorption Conferences 2014 and 2018. He is on the editorial board of several professional journals including Chemical Engineering Research and Design. He is also an adjunct professor at OSU and Tianjin University. He has been chairing the Distillation and Separation Session of Southwest Process Technology Conference since 2011. Tony is a Fellow of AIChE and serves as a member of AIChE Admissions Committee.
