Tuncay Baubec is Professor of Genome Biology and Epigenetics at Utrecht University. He studied genetics at the University of Vienna and obtained his PhD at the Gregor Mendel Institute in Vienna. For his postdoctoral research, he moved to the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel where he studied readers and writers of DNA methylation. In 2015, Tuncay started his own research group at the University of Zurich, investigating how proteins can recognize epigenetic modifications in DNA. His current group focuses on understanding how readout of chemical modifications influences gene expression.
