Wenjun Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of California, Berkeley and a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub investigator. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Biochemistry from Nanjing University, China, and her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in the laboratory of Yi Tang at University of California, Los Angeles with an honor. She did her postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Christopher T. Walsh at Harvard Medical School before joining UC Berkeley in 2011. Zhang’s laboratory is studying natural product discovery, biosynthesis, engineering, and biology for applications related to both bioenergy and human health. She is the author of over 60 original journal articles for her research and received awards including Pew Scholar (2012), Hellman Fellow (2015), NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (2015), Sloan Research Fellow (2016), etc.
