Congratulations to Qi Zhang, the newly elected 10A 2026 Programming Coordinator. Qi Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, his M.S. in Advanced Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, he worked at BASF as a Conceptual Process Engineer. His research interests lie in the development of efficient solution strategies for real-world optimization problems and data-driven discovery of unknown decision processes. Areas of application include sustainable energy and process systems, advanced manufacturing, supply chain engineering, human-machine systems, and metabolic engineering. He is a recipient of the AIChE CAST W. David Smith Jr. Graduate Publication Award, the NSF CAREER Award, and the McKnight Land-Grant Professorship.
