Emre Demirel is an Associate Research Scientist at The Dow Chemical Company, working within the Machine Learning, Optimization & Statistics group under the Core Research & Development organization. He specializes in developing mathematical programming approaches for process synthesis, intensification, and sustainability applications. Dr. Demirel has made significant contributions to integrating mathematical optimization-based solutions for process design and intensification at Dow, enhancing the quality of early-stage conceptual process designs and improving the viability of techno-economic analyses. Additionally, he is part of the organizing team for Dow's Digital Innovation internship program. Prior to joining Dow, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2020, after completing his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering at Bogazici University, Turkey. He has authored/co-authored 13 peer-reviewed journal articles, 5 conference publications, and 38 conference presentations.
