US sanctions on Venezuela could hurt US refiners
The days of robust refining profit margins may be over amid surging gasoline inventories and the risk of heavy crude supply shortages due to potential US sanctions on Venezuela's crude exports. Weak margins for gasoline prompted refiners to boost diesel processing, but limited access to heavy crude supplies threatens to raise costs for refiners and make processing less economical.
North America will become a major PE exporter, says Dow exec
North America is poised to join the Middle East as one of the world's top polyethylene exporting regions, especially as companies such as Dow Chemical continue to bring new capacity online, says Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics Business President Diego Donoso. Donoso adds that Dow intends to work with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste partners to find new solutions for plastic debris.
