Marathon Petroleum to take over Andeavor in $23.3B deal

Marathon Petroleum said today that it's acquiring pipeline and refining company Andeavor for $23.3 billion in cash and stock. The deal would give rise to the largest US refiner by capacity, with an ability to process 3.1 million barrels per day.

Researchers claim breakthrough in hydrogen power

Nanoparticles of lanthanum, iron and oxygen are the key to a photo-electrode that absorbs sunlight to initiate an electrochemical transformation to extract hydrogen from water. The electrode, developed by researchers at England's University of Exeter, is said to be stable and economical to produce, making it the best candidate yet for scalable hydrogen power.
