Nuclear Power, Fact or Fiction
At the center of the debate about climate change is how to produce electricity without releasing CO2 to the atmosphere. The most contentious form of carbon free electrical production is nuclear power. Nuclear power is the largest producer of carbon free electricity available. However, there remains a certain stigma against the use of nuclear power. This Presentation will go over the basics of nuclear power, including power plant design, the rudimentary physics of the nuclear chain reaction, the benefits and detriments of nuclear power, the effects of radiation on living cells, and accident mitigation and emergency response.
