Mid-South Section Executive Board Nominations Now Open

The AIChE Mid-South Section will hold elections early this fall.  Please nominate qualified individuals or volunteer yourself to run.

Your Executive Committee believes it is important that new members rotate onto the Committee.  We particularly encourage members with diverse viewpoints and new ideas to participate.  We anticipate that some of the current Committee will run for re-election, providing continuity of management, but others will be replaced.  Your nominations are essential to this process.

The Officers to be elected are the Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.  There are also four Directors subject to election.   The Chair position is filled automatically by the succession of the Vice-Chair.  Vice-Chair Phillip Carroll will become Chair for 2018.

·         The Vice-Chair is in charge of programming and will succeed to the Chair position in the following year.

·         The Secretary keeps records of Section activities, coordinates communication with the Members, and prepares the Annual Report to the national office.

·         The Treasurer is responsible for managing the Section’s funds and preparing the reports required by National, the IRS, etc.

·         Directors help with the general work of the Executive Committee, and may be charged with special tasks:  planning the student competition, preparing grant applications, coordinating activities for Young Professionals,  etc., as needed.

Officers must be Fellows, Members, or Associate Members of the national Institute and local section in good standing.  Directors must be Local Section members.   Membership status will be confirmed prior to the election, but is not required for nomination.

The term of office is one year, except for the Vice-Chair, who will serve as Chair the following year, and as a past Chair is an ex officio member of the Executive Committee for two additional years.  Currently, Executive Committee meetings are monthly as needed.

Please submit nominations to Randel Price (rprice@cbu.edu), Section Secretary, no later than August 18.  Elections will be conducted by electronic ballot, no later than the October General Meeting.
