About the Event.
The annual Washington DC Engineering Family Day is enjoyed by over six thousand visitors to the National Building Museum every February. The festival features dozens of hands-on activities provided by local engineering chapters and national organizations, including AIChE/NCS. Every year at the start of Engineer's Week, the impressive main hall of the National Building Museum is taken over by thousands of children of all ages experiencing the excitement of engineering, not to mention slime (which is the activity offered by AIChE/NCS). Event details can also be found at: http://www.engineeringfamilyday.org
For visitors:
The National Building Museum and the National Engineers Week Foundation invite everyone to debunk the myths of engineering and discover how professional engineers turn an idea into reality. Celebrate National Engineers Week by participating in this FREE, hands-on and fun-filled festival! For the visitors to our slime booth, Discover Engineering Family Day is a FREE, drop-in program. Other programs and activities taking place alongside ours are most appropriate for children ages 5 to 13 with adult supervision. This is an ideal setting to bring your whole family to enjoy and be sure to drop by the AIChE/NCS booth to say hello.
For AIChE/NCS volunteers:
AIChE/NCS partners with Society of Women Engineers Baltimore/Washington Section (SWE BWS) to run the slime making stations! It is the most popular event at Family Day every year - everyone loves slime! Breakfast (donuts), lunch (pizza), and drinks will be provided throughout the day for all volunteers.
Slime Making
Each child gets to see how to make slime and understand chemistry! They each get to pick their own color and is a HUGE hit!!
