The AIChE National Capital Section (NCS) is proud to host Mr. Samir Qadir as a featured speaker for the NCS member virtual meeting on Thursday April 1st, 2021. Mr. Qadir will be providing a briefing related to climate change and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) No Joke, the climate change is a real issue! Don’t miss a pleasant event on the relation between infrastructure projects and climate change being held during the first 100 days of President Biden’s term! ABSTRACT: Climate Change and NEPA: Analyzing Potential Impacts for Major Infrastructure Projects In this talk, a brief update on the new Biden administration’s actions on climate change will be presented. The essential interplay between climate change, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) will be discussed. Impacts for major infrastructure projects are of concern to climate change, case studies will be explored including the process and findings from a case study on a crude oil pipeline.

BIOGRAPHY: Samir Qadir, CC-P Mr. Samir Qadir is an environmental scientist with Potomac-Hudson Engineering, is a small business environmental consulting firm based in Gaithersburg, MD. Where he conducts building energy assessments at multifamily residential properties as part of a program to verify energy efficiency upgrades implemented with funding from the state and Develops strategic sustainability plans for clients to help facilities performance against a range of performance indicators, including energy and water conservation and greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Qadir is a Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P) and is a USGBC LEED Green Associate. He is a project manager and an environmental engineer and with over 15 years of experience in climate change, energy, environmental assessments, and sustainability planning. Areas of expertise include building energy efficiency, greenhouse gas accounting and analysis, solid and hazardous waste management and recycling, and environmental management systems.
