Ethics is an important part of our regular work as engineers, and licensed engineers are required to complete at least 2 hours of training in ethics every two years; yet few universities require engineering students to attend a formal ethics course.
Via a discussion of case studies, attendees of this presentation will be introduced to the concept of ethics, the warning signs of a potential ethical problem and how it can affect your career, and steps you can take to protect your professional integrity. The case studies presented include:
1. Hyatt Regency Skywalk Collapse
2. Space Shuttles Challenger and Columbia
3. BP Texas City Explosion
4. Deepwater Horizon Disaster
Attendees will earn 1 PDH of continuing education
