Cris Hehner will give a presentation on home brewing that will cover some of the basics of making beer from kits and grains.  Presentation will be followed by a tasting session.

Have you ever wondered how to make beer at home, or had a yearning to make a very heavy stout in the middle of summer, but never knew where to start?  This presentation is your chance to learn some of the basics of home brewing and will hopefully serve as the push needed to finally get you started! Cris Hehner, a 40 year AIChE member and amateur home brewer, will be talking about home brewing, the joys, the pitfalls and other unusual things that can and do happen while making beer. He will also review the essential equipment needed for making beer and delve into some more advanced techniques and equipment for gaining more control over the beer making process. We will also introduce the AIChE St. Louis’s first annual home brewing competition details, to be held in 2017.  Use all of the knowledge gained to make your own beer and enter the competition!
