David W. Jett of Hagedorn & Gannon Co. will update the section on mixing application and the basics of mixer sizing.
Agitation is a field affecting both batch and continuous processes in a variety of industries. The talk will provide a quick review of basics elements in agitation design and selection. Topics cover will include:
- Basic formulas, nomenclature, in sizing mixers
- Basic mixing parameters to achieve process results
- Common applications for mixing design
- Importance of tank design in conjuncture with mixer design
- Mixer mounting considerations: location, angle, baffling
- Impeller types and technologies for different application needs
- Tips for scale up from lab to production
David Jett is an experienced Sales Engineer for Hagedorn & Gannon Company. His company markets industrial and sanitary style mixing equipment, including the Lightnin, Plenty and Nettco brands. His company also markets the Silverson line of special high shear mixers, homogenizer and disintegrators. David is a 1997 graduate of M-S&T with a BS in Chemical Engineering. David obtained process design experience with Fru-Con engineering. David also obtained project management experience with icon Mechanical and EPIC systems, prior to joining Hagedorn & Gannon in 2011.
