Presentation Overview:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been the subject of regulatory scrutiny for years. In 2024, EPA has finalized landmark regulations bringing PFAS to forefront of industry conversations. This presentation will cover the basics of PFAS chemistry and use, the evolving regulatory framework to limit their use and mitigate environmental and human health impacts, technologies to remove and destroy PFAS, and considerations for manufacturing industries.
Speakers: Chris Doss and Emily Pulcher
Chris is an associate process engineer for Burns & McDonnell. He has 19 years of experience as a consultant engineer supporting capital projects in a variety of industries: specialty chemicals, refining, petrochem, consumer products, and food processing. Chris graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T) in 2005 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Emily is a licensed chemical engineer and project manager with experience in remediation, water treatment, and environmental compliance. Emily serves as the co-lead of Burns & McDonnell’s Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Emerging Contaminants practice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Missouri S&T.
