The St Louis Section AIChE December meeting will feature a private (after hours) tour of the James S. McDonnell Prologue Room.  The James S. McDonnell Prologue Room in St. Louis tells the panoramic story of a century of aviation progress from bi-planes to space travel.  Scale models, paintings, and photographs document this history from The Boeing Company perspective.   The men and women of The Boeing Company and the aircraft they have built have played a pivotal role in shaping the history of aerospace.  They have advanced technology, changed travel, defended our freedoms, and discovered new frontiers.   The nearly 100 year history of The Boeing Company, along with the companies with which it shares a common heritage, parallels the exciting history of humankind’s endeavor to fly.

Separate displays depict the evolution of technology through hundreds of varying scale commercial and military airplane models, full size missiles, and full-size and smaller scale rockets and spacecraft.  Actual-size mockups of the Mercury and Gemini capsules that carried the first Americans into space dramatize the vital role the company played in the early days of America’s space program.  Detailed models of Skylab, the world’s first orbiting laboratory, and today’s orbiting lab, the International Space Station, are also on display.  The James S. McDonnell Prologue Room has fighter jet, helicopter, and transport scaled models that document the military aircraft developments through the years.  Models of Boeing’s commercial aircraft product lines including the new 787 are also on display.  Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the history of flight.  Attendance is limited to the first 40 people to RSVP.
