Topic: Negotiating Total Compensation
One of the most exciting parts of a job search is when you have a job offer – but it is also one that can be fraught with anxiety: Is the offer a fair one? Is the company underpaying me? How do I know what I should be making? Am I leaving money on the table?
In a fast-paced presentation, Mark Friedman will provide some key pointers about how to negotiate total compensation. The talk will include: a definition of total compensation – what it is, and why your salary is not the only thing to consider; where negotiation fits in the job search process; why doing a thorough self-assessment is critical to getting a good offer; how to research what value you bring to the market; what you can ask for during negotiations – you may be surprised; and some critical questions about your compensation that you should be thinking about.
