The Susquehanna Section of AIChE invites you to get involved in this month's Engineers Week activities! Locally, Engineers Week is managed by the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council, or CPEWC.
The E-Week activities include hands-on exhibits at the Whitaker Center Feb 18-19, Breakfast at Messiah College on Feb 21, and Banquet at Park Inn by Radisson on Feb 23. The presentation topic at the Banquet is Cyber Security.
Sue Benjamin is coordinating the Whitaker Center Exhibits. Local engineering societies are planning to provide educational exhibits and demonstrations inside the science center on Saturday, February 18th and Sunday February 19th. Our local AIChE section is working with Philadelphia Mixers to provide a tabletop mixing demo in addition to making slime (polymerization demonstration).
All materials and instructions will be provided, but we need engineers to man the station in 2-hour shifts and work with the kids. This is an opportunity for students and teachers to gain hands-on math and science experience by working with local engineers. It has become a popular annual event, and we anticipate working with about 500 area kids during the two days. This year, the event is timed to coincide with the premiere of a new engineering oriented IMAX movie titled ‘Dream Big’ so we expect higher than usual attendance. Schedule: Saturday, February 18, 2016 = 10:00am – 4:00pm. Sunday, February 19, 2016 = 12:00pm – 4:00pm.
