AIChE member Terry Hristofas has graciously arranged for us to have this plant tour. We will meet at the plant entrance/lobby shortly before the tour. We’ll have 1.5 hours in the plant. The first half hour will be a presentation in a conference room which will include safety briefing and a process description of the Listerine production. The plant has been a major part of Lititz since it was opened in 1956 by Warner-Lambert. Pfizer bought the plant from Warner-Lambert in 2000 and sold it to Johnson & Johnson in 2006. Listerine is manufactured and bottled at the facility. The official site for Listerine at https://www.listerine.com/about gives an overview, as does Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listerine. The rest of the time will be spent touring the facility. Afterwards, we are going to a local establishment for a dinner.

Schedule:
5:15 – 5:30 Meet in plant entrance/lobby – sign in, proceed to conf. room
5:30 – 6:00 Listerine process presentation, safety briefing, don PPE
6:00 – 7:00 Listerine plant tour, return PPE
7:15 – Dinner

Additional Info:
  • Please arrive wearing safety shoes if you have them. Safety glasses, lab coats, hairnets, and beard covers will be provided.
  • If you have the time or arrive early, it’s recommended to stop in the Wilbur Chocolate Store, 45 N Broad Street, Lititz, because it is an iconic landmark and well worth the visit. Wilbur recently closed its chocolate factory in Lititz and moved production elsewhere, but the classic store remains. The store is open until 5:00 pm. http://www.wilburbuds.com/visit/Our-Candy-Store.html
