Presented by Lisa Long
Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm EST
OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) standard was published in February 1992. Most process safety experts agree that the PSM standard has made a difference in industry practices and saved lives. Over time, several significant incidents and changes in industry best practices led OSHA to begin the process to update the PSM standard. Lisa will give an overview of OSHA’s rulemaking process, review the work already done to update the PSM standard, and explain the next steps for rulemaking on PSM standard.
Lisa Long is the Deputy Director of OSHA’s Directorate of Standards and Guidance. She has years of government experience at both OSHA and the CSB, and years of industry experience in process engineering and chemical manufacturing production management. She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and is an AIChE fellow and former Chair of the AIChE’s Process Safety Division.
This meeting is free and open to all, not just to Virtual Local Section members.
